Director of Communications and Connections

Rome Alliance Church, a vibrant and growing church located in Rome, NY, is on the precipice of the next 50 years of ministry. We are currently in the process of a building and vision expansion plan; we are looking for our next staff member to be an integral part of this journey. Position Overview: The Director of Communications and Connections will equip Rome Alliance Church to operate effectively and remain mission-focused through clear and strategic communication, administrative support, and Sunday morning coordination. This person oversees church-wide communication, guest follow-up and connection systems, Sunday service logistics, digital platforms, facility management, and more.

This is both a relational and administrative position. The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative, is detail-oriented, can manage multiple responsibilities, and has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This individual must be actively involved in their local church to be considered for the position.

This is a hybrid position, with responsibilities carried out both on-site at the church and remotely during the week. This position also requires regular attendance at Rome Alliance Church as an active participant in the life of the church. There may also be opportunities to serve in various ministries based on individual gifts and calling.

Compensation is determined by qualifications, including experience and education.

Key Responsibilities: Communication & Digital Media

  • Coordinate and send weekly church-wide communications via email and text (including Sunday announcements, reminders, youth group updates)
  • Design and manage Sunday slides, event graphics, and other promotional materials
  • Print and prepare the weekly On Mission Together handouts and other documents for Sunday
  • Manage and regularly update the church website to reflect upcoming events, ministries, and sermon series
  • Upload weekly sermons to YouTube and help maintain a consistent online presence through social media
  • Create and schedule posts for Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms as needed

Sunday Morning Support & Technology

  • Prepare and load slides and media into EasyWorship or equivalent software
  • Arrive early on Sunday mornings to set up and troubleshoot tech needs
  • Coordinate with worship leader and AV team to ensure a smooth flow of services
  • Assist in preparing pre-recorded videos or testimonies for use in services

Connections & Assimilation

  • Manage guest follow-up processes and track engagement and growth
  • Oversee systems for assimilation, including adding people to the church directory, email list, and Facebook group
  • Help new attendees take next steps toward involvement and community within the church
  • Communicate with individuals via text who are new
  • Identify gaps in systems and processes

Administration & Scheduling

  • Maintain the church’s master calendar, including events, meetings, and building usage
  • Assist in scheduling church-wide events and communicating logistics with team leaders
  • Ensure volunteers and teams have the necessary reminders and resources
  • Provide executive assistant support to the Lead Pastor with scheduling, communication, and administrative tasks
  • Compile and submit seasonal reports, including the Annual Impact Report and reports to the District and National offices

Building & Facilities Oversight

  • Serve as the point of contact for all building-related needs, such as maintenance issues, inspections, and repairs
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for facility needs
  • Oversee day-to-day upkeep of shared spaces, ensuring cleanliness and stocked supplies
  • Manage key distribution and room reservations for ministries and events

Qualifications

  • A growing and active relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Active participant at Rome Alliance Church (Must be willing to attend Rome Alliance)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Teachable, flexible, and works well on a team
  • Takes initiative and follows through with excellence
  • Experience working with computers and digital platforms. This individual doesn’t need to be proficient in all of these, but needs to be willing to learn. The Lead Pastor will provide the necessary training.
