Position Summary: Armonk church seeks to hire a lead pastor who is called by God, empowered by the Spirit, and faithful to the teachings of Jesus to lead our church. We are a vibrant community of believers seeking a pastor who loves and shepherds the ministries of the church, is passionate to reach the next generation of believers in our community, lives a lifestyle of discipleship and empowerment of all believers, and models missional connection to the surrounding community.

General Candidate Requirements:

  • Undergraduate and graduate degrees (M.Div or equivalent) preferred. The graduate degree must be from a school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools.
  • Experience as a Lead Pastor or assistant pastor in a growing church setting.
  • A spiritually, emotionally, and relationally mature believer, who has a calling to be a Lead Pastor of a local body of believers
  • Believes in the priesthood and ministry of all believers, including the empowerment and release of female staff members in all areas of pastoral leadership (preaching, teaching, discipleship of the church body, etc.)
  • Must be accredited/licensed/ordained with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, or able to meet the standard for accreditation, licensing, and ordination with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
  • Full agreement and alignment with the doctrinal statement and distinctiveness of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the mission, vision, and the core values of the church.
  • Must be committed to lead a prayer-centric church that always seeks the Holy Spirit and God’s divine will in all activities.

Character

Our Lead Pastor will emulate Christ and love all of God’s children, desiring to boldly and confidently share the good news of salvation through Christ. Like Christ, his ministry will begin on his knees, seeking God’s will for all our church ministries, teaching, discipleship, evangelism, stewardship, and pastoral care. Our Lead Pastor knows that Jesus is central to every aspect of our daily lives, and he strives to teach us how to grow and strengthen our relationship with the Living God, placing Him at our center.

Our Lead Pastor will be a teacher and communicator who is reliant upon the Holy Spirit and prayer to guide his life and ministry. He will be a humble, self-aware, and repentant, servant leader who teaches from the inerrant words of the Bible in a manner that is relatable and culturally considerate for today’s believers and unbelievers. Our Lead Pastor cares that his words, from the Holy Spirit, are heard and understood by our diverse congregation and community.

Our Lead Pastor embraces the Great Commission and recognizes that the poor include the poor in spirit - an affliction that is commonplace in our surrounding community. He will share Christ’s heart for vulnerable people and lost sheep, calling upon the Holy Spirit to lead people to

the acceptance of God’s grace with the affirmation of baptism. Our Lead Pastor will demonstrate the fruit of Spirit in the community and be known for his compassion, kindness and sacrificial service.

Our Lead Pastor personally mentors individuals in their walk with Christ, including protecting and guiding people during times of hurt and distress. He teaches that relying upon Christ is the source of all our hope as Paul shared in Romans 5:1-8. Connected to the Holy Spirit, he regularly provides wise biblical counsel for a variety of spiritual and emotional needs. Like Jesus, he disciples, empowers and multiplies new leaders from our church community. Our Lead Pastor is also our Head Elder and is dutiful with God’s resources and the wise stewardship of our church.

Our Lead Pastor will be able to clearly articulate the doctrinal distinctiveness of the C&MA, including the C&MA’s position on the ministry/filling/gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the C&MA’s understanding of healing for today. The Lead Pastor will be accountable and in alignment to the District Superintendent of the Metro District of the CMA and will work collaboratively with the Executive Board.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Lead Pastor will be carried out in the context of the staff team and ministry leaders. Our intent is that the Lead Pastor will give leadership and oversight and delegate responsibility as appropriate. These essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Executive Leadership (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit):

  1. Salaried, exempt position.
  2. Hours: expected approx 50 hours/wk., 5-day work week including Sunday being mandatory.
  3. Provide primary oversight to the staff team, including leading, planning and execution of staff meetings. Holding regularly scheduled individual meetings with staff members and overseeing staff evaluations.
  4. Establish, in conjunction with the Board members, measurable objectives for all ministry staff in keeping with the purposes of the church.
  5. Conduct regular performance assessments of pastoral staff members and ensure regular performance assessments of all administrative staff members.

  1. Serve as the Chairman of the board unless he determines for someone to serve as co or Chair in which he would serve as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the church, giving direction and oversight to the church in a collaborative manner with the Board Not necessary to be included here.
  2. Work in collaboration with the Board to ensure all departments/ministries are in alignment with the mission/vision/core values.
  3. Work in collaboration with the Board in the hiring of all pastoral and administrative staff, proposing staff adjustments, and overseeing conflict resolution between staff members.
  4. Be the person to conduct – either directly or through a Board-Appointed designee – all business and congregational meetings.
  5. Work with the Board to coordinate and execute an annual church strategy, annual goals, and review of ministry objectives.
  6. Be the primary contact with the district office to ensure that the church is and remains in compliance and strong relationship with the C&MA.
  7. Collaboration with the Board to oversee the production of the Annual Report.

Church Profile

Church Overview:

Armonk Church is a Christian & Missionary Alliance church. It is a small, 60+ year old church with a loving community, centered around Biblical preaching and contemporary worship. The Building can be home to as many as 350 parishioners per service, average church attendance is approximately 100. The church grounds include a parsonage.

We sense the Holy Spirit moving and desire to reach our full potential to complete the Great Commission in Armonk and beyond.

Currently operating as a campus location in Armonk, NY of Ridgeway Church. In the process of separating from Ridgeway as an accredited Alliance church.

As a church body we are ethnically and socially diverse. We are looking for a lead pastor to join our strong lay leadership and ministerial team and partner with us to grow our body. Sunday morning services are at 10:30 am. 20-30 minutes of contemporary worship. Announcements,

greetings, and in-person offering and dismissal of children. Children of all ages are present during worship. Delivery of message 25-45 minutes of preaching. Closing with worship and benediction. During most Sundays, there is a gathering for up to 1 hour after service for coffee and fellowship. We have a prayer time before service from 10am. We rent the church to a Korean Christian ministry on Sunday afternoon.

We are situated in the town of Armonk, and close to I-684. Our church draws attendees from a 30-40 mile radius. It is a very wealthy, primarily caucasian, community and aspects of the community can be transient, as both Pepsi and IBM have corporate headquarters in town.

However, our surrounding neighborhoods, including Mt. Kisco,have a thriving Latino community which has resulted in growth in our church and a dedication to Spanish ministry.

Armonk is also a common home to New York City Commuters who travel into the city from North White Plains train station about 5 miles south of the town. Pace and Manhattan Universities are within 10 minutes of the church.

Church Mission Statement

We are a God-fearing, praying community, saved by the undeserved grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to bear the fruit of His countenance - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and strength of spirit. Our community prayerfully seeks the will of God in all our endeavors and is charged with the great commission to share the good news of Christ's death and resurrection. As a body of believers we welcome all of God’s repentant Children into our dedicated family. As followers of Jesus we are transformed seeking, in unity, to grow and mature spiritually by demonstrating forgiveness, servant leadership, and faithful, bible-based teaching to our family, community, and the world.

Being biblically based and christ centric, we have identified these eight passages of the bible to describe the church that we endeavor to be:

  1. Christ the Savior John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
  2. The Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

  1. Fruit of the Spirit - Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.
  2. Uni?ed Body in Christ 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
  3. Active Fellowship of Believers Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was ?lled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
  4. Be a Church that Prays and Teaches how to Pray Ephesians 6:18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. There's never a wrong time to pray. Every occasion, good or bad or ordinary, calls our hearts towards the LORD
  5. Repentance, Grace and Forgiveness 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  6. Presence and Dependence of the Holy Spirit John 14:26 Open to, being transformed by and led by the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

  1. Pastoral / Discipleship: Women’s, Men’s and Couples ministry groups meet weekly.
  2. Pastoral Care - including in-home and hospital visits.
  3. Evangelical / Outreach/ Mission: Preaching the gospel in the community
  4. Prayer nights - Wednesday night
  5. Worship - Praising God, leading the church to the holy spirit. Attracting musicians of all kinds. Sunday will see multiple vocalists, complete (semi-) contemporary band and

supporting choir. Periodic worship nights have been offered.

  1. Post Service Gathering ministry - vibrant group of donors who host coffee, tea, and treats to encourage gathering after the service - Fellowship.
  2. Spanish Ministry - including translation of the message during sunday services
  3. Nursery School: The church operates a thriving nursery school for more than 40 years, Monday to Friday during school term time. It is the leading school in town for Pre-K students, hosting programs for 2.5, 3, and 4 year olds.
  4. Children: Active Sunday School program with around 15-20 children under the age of 12
