Pastoral and Ministry Apprenticeship Program Description
Do you have a call to vocational ministry? Would you like to enter the ministry with experience and no college debt? If so, you may be interested in the Pastoral Apprenticeship Program at Maranatha Bible Chapel in Horseheads, NY. This three-year program will introduce you to vocational ministry and carry you through to ordination and licensing. During that time, you will serve the church as a pastoral candidate, attend college classes through the Alliance School of Ministry, and pursue ordination through the Northeastern District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Upon completion of the program, you will be a fully licensed and credentialed Alliance worker equipped to serve God around the world. Preferred Qualifications:
Spiritual Intentionality – Suitable candidates will demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus.
Call to Ministry – Suitable candidates will demonstrate a substantive felt call to ministry confirmed through church leaders and godly people in your life.
Ministry Experience – This is an entry level ministry position—no history of vocational ministry is necessary. However, suitable candidates will be active in his local church and local ministry opportunities.
Education – A high school degree or its equivalent is preferred for this position. A college degree may be helpful but not necessary.
Teachable Spirit – This is a learning position. The ability to listen, learn, and apply teaching is essential. The willingness to make mistakes and learn and grow from those mistakes is also essential to this program.
Growing Work Ethic – Good candidates will demonstrate the ability and a willingness to work hard and follow through on projects. Part of working hard is knowing how to rest and refresh well. Regular sabbath practices will be an expectation of this position.
Collaboration – Values collaboration with other ministries and has experience delegating responsibilities.
Organization – Able to handle multiple responsibilities at once and organize detailed information; able to stay cool under pressure.
Relational Ability – A “people” person who works well with staff, volunteers, and church membership of varying personality types.
Tech Savvy – The ability to learn or use media tools, like social media, live streaming, worship presentation software (e.g. ProPresenter), and other media software is helpful.
Note on Titling: Male candidates will receive the title Pastoral Apprentice and female candidates will receive the title Ministry Apprentice.
Responsibilities:
Candidate will report directly to the senior pastor. Duties will be based on direction of the senior pastor, candidate’s giftings, and needs of the church.
Possible ministry opportunities could be as follows:
Education and Ordination:
Academic Progress in the school of ministry will be an expected part of the work week.
When licensure and credentialing begin, progression to ordination and consecration will be an expectation of the Apprentice.

Education through the school of ministry. School of Ministry credits are fully transferable to several Alliance schools toward an undergraduate degree.
Credentialing for ministry through the Northeastern District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
This is initially a part-time position, and the pastoral apprentice will receive a salary during the apprenticeship.
Housing is available.
Upon completion of the program, Maranatha Bible Chapel will help the apprentice find secure ministry placement either at Maranatha, within the Northeastern district, or around the world as an international worker.
