Position: Pastor of discipleship and spiritual formation

Objective: To help create systems for the adults of CP to grow in maturity with Christ through small groups, our Equip school of ministry, discipleship training and spiritual formation.

About CenterPoint Church

CenterPoint is a thriving, multi-campus church that has been growing consistently since its launch in 2002. With seven campuses across Long Island, we are committed to deep discipleship, biblical teaching, and equipping Christians to live out their faith.

We are looking for a self-motivated, theologically grounded, and relationally gifted leader to oversee the central discipleship ministries across all campuses, while also serving as part of the pastoral team at our original campus in Massapequa, NY.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee Life Groups (small groups) Ministry

    • Work with the Campus Pastors to identify, hold accountable and train Life Group leaders.
    • Expand the number of groups.
    • Oversee message-based curriculum and approve additional study materials.

• Lead and Develop Our Equip School of Ministry (cpchurch.com/equip)

    • Oversee and support teachers.
    • Ensure the program maintains its collegiate-level quality.
    • Manage its recognition by the Christian and Missionary Alliance for ordination requirements.

• Champion One-on-One and Life-on-Life Discipleship

    • Lead and strengthen discipleship pathways.
    • Utilize The Purple Book as a foundational discipleship tool.

• Teach Deeper Waters Classes

    • O?er courses such as Systematic Theology, Christian History, Biblical Interpretation, and Book Studies.

• Train and Oversee Alpha Leaders

    • Equip key volunteers to run Alpha across all locations.

• Cast and Implement Vision for Spiritual Formation

    • Develop strategies to foster deeper spiritual growth church-wide.

• Serve on the Sunday Teaching Team (Based on Ability)

    • Preach occasionally as part of our teaching rotation.

General Pastoral Expectations

As a pastor at CenterPoint, you are expected to:

  • Have an active and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • Preach as needed.
  • Counsel and shepherd members of the church.
  • Work as part of a team and contribute to ministry overall.

• Perform weddings, funerals, and pastoral care duties.

  • Be energetic, quick-paced, and highly organized.
  • Exhibit a servant-hearted, welcoming, and hospitable presence.
  • Engage the community relationally and missionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology (or a closely related field) from an accredited college or university.

• Strong teaching and communication skills.

  • Experience leading discipleship or small group ministries in a church setting.
  • A passion for equipping believers and fostering spiritual formation.
  • Administrative and leadership skills to oversee multiple campuses.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-site church environment.
