Senior/Sole Pastor

Marietta Community Church in Marietta, Ohio is seeking a Senior Pastor.

Position Description:

The senior pastor will provide leadership to Marietta Community Church. He must be committed to preaching and teaching the inerrant word of God, interceding for both regular church attendees and the lost, and building up the body of Christ through counseling and pastoral care.

Responsibilities:

  • Preaching/Teaching
    • The Pastor shall be the teaching-elder of the church. He shall give considerable time to the study of the Word and shall teach the Scripture to the flock by both precept and example. He shall aim to equip the saints for ministry (both with a deeper understanding of the Scriptures and strong encouragement and direction in how to apply that understanding to lead a changed life) and to guard the church against compromise on the supreme authority of the Bible.

  • Intercession
    • The Pastor shall be devoted to prayer, leading the congregation in praying for one another and for the community around us. The Pastor is expected to lead a weekly prayer time for the congregation and to also spend time outside of regular church activities in prayer.

  • Counseling
    • The Pastor shall be available during the week for scheduled counseling sessions as required. He should be ready to address both spiritual and emotional needs in a careful, godly manner. He should know his congregation well and give appropriate and timely attention where needed (such as hospital visits or follow up communications).

Qualifications:

• A mature Christian who conforms to the biblical leadership qualifications of an elder as described in I Tim. 3:2-7 and I Pet. 1-4.
• Approved by the Central District of the C&MA and willing to whole-heartedly stand behind its statement of faith.
• A 4-year ministry degree from a Bible college or equivalent is strongly preferred. This position does not require prior pastoral experience.

Accountability:

  • The Pastor shall be chairman of the Board of Elders and meet regularly with the Board (typically every month)
  • The Pastor is accountable to the Elder Board and the District Superintendent
  • This position will be evaluated annually

Compensation:

  • Full-Time Salary
  • Bi-vocational Salary
