Family Pastor

Edgewater Alliance Church
Edgewater, FL, Florida, United States

Categories: Associate Pastor - Children's Ministry - Family Pastor - Youth Pastor

Denominations: Christian & Missionary Alliance

Church Size: 501 to 750

Job Type: Full-Time

Employee Workplace: On-site

Salary Range: $55-70k (range depending on experience/education)

Position Summary
The Family Pastor will be the face of Family Ministries at Edgewater Alliance Church by providing visionary leadership in three key areas: Kids Ministry, Youth Ministry, and ministry to the whole family. We believe that parents bear the primary responsibility to disciple their children and that the church is called to equip, encourage, and empower parents to do this well. EAC leadership desires that all generations are led to and through a relationship with Jesus Christ and have opportunities to grow as disciples who bring the Gospel to every man, woman, and child. This position also requires a spirit of collaboration within the community that reflects the larger values of EAC. This is a full-time, salary position requiring 40-50 hours per week. Edgewater Alliance Church is a part of the Southeast District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA).

One Sentence Job Description
You will contextualize and implement a missional discipleship strategy for family ministry that serves kids, students, families, and the unreached in our community.

Primary Responsibilities

Kids Ministry:
You will provide visionary leadership to help refine this established and vital ministry. You will be a visible presence as you interact with families and support volunteers who lead the weekly environments (Sunday morning and Wednesday night). You will provide significant leadership and support to Sunday morning K-5th grade ministry. You will lead a team of 75-ish volunteers and five part-time staff members (Sunday Morning Kids programming director, Wednesday Night Kids Programming Director, Nursery Director, Family Ministry Events Coordinator, and Family Ministry Student Intern).

Student Ministry:
You will be the primary visionary leader as well as the lead communicator. This includes class offerings (Sunday), weekly youth gatherings (Wednesday), student leadership training, seasonal events (retreats, camp, mission trips, community outreaches, etc.). You will collaborate and build relationships with the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization, local youth groups (C&MA and non-C&MA), and Next Gen initiatives in the C&MA Alliance Southeast District.

Family Ministry:
While age specific ministries like the ones listed above are helpful, they should not be the only strategy. We desire to be a church that helps to equip parents for the challenges that come with striving to raise children to know, love, and serve Jesus. This is an area that we are looking to grow in with the help of a passionate Family Pastor. You will have a lot of freedom to do this as you see fit. Currently, EAC family ministry facilitates 3 large community outreaches per year (Trunk or Treat, Eggapalooza, & Summer VBS), participates in a community back-to school event, and hosts monthly opportunities for EAC families to build community. Further ideas could include: events for the whole family, date nights for parents with babysitting, online discipleship resources for parents to use with their kids, parenting classes etc.

In addition to these roles, unique to the Family Pastor, there will be opportunities for preaching, facilitating funerals/weddings as needed, and speaking into the larger direction of EAC. This position also requires seasonal travel away from home for events, trips, and conferences.
