Congregation Pastor (Campus Pastor Role)

Location: Tacoma | Anchor Church, Lincoln
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Lead Pastor

At Anchor Church, we're a community of imperfect Jesus-followers committed to living for the good of Tacoma and the South Sound. Our mission isn't just to build a great church; it's to partner with God in making a great city . We're seeking a Congregation Pastor to lead one of our local congregations—someone who embodies our values of hope, hospitality, presence, and purpose.

What You'll Do

Spiritual Leadership

  • Pastor the congregation through relational care, prayer, and gospel-centered teaching.
  • Lead and develop key congregation ministries, including Anchor Groups, outreach, and care initiatives.
  • Uphold and promote Anchor's theological commitments, vision, and mission in all aspects of congregational life.

Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision, development, and pastoral care for the local congregation staff team.
  • Recruit, equip, and empower volunteer leaders to serve and lead within congregation ministries.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative team culture marked by clarity, grace, accountability, and joy.
  • Collaborate with Network Ministry Leads (e.g., Worship, Kids, Youth) to implement church-wide strategies and ensure consistency across campuses.

Community Engagement

  • Cultivate a warm, welcoming environment that reflects Anchor's culture and values.
  • Build intentional relationships with congregants to foster spiritual growth, belonging, and connection.
  • Represent Anchor Church in local partnerships, service efforts, and outreach initiatives.

Operational Oversight

  • Manage the congregation's ministry budget with stewardship, transparency, and accountability.
  • Oversee weekend gathering logistics, including worship flow, facilities, hospitality, and volunteer coordination.
  • Ensure all local congregation operations align with Anchor's systems, policies, and strategic goals.

Collaboration & Alignment

  • Participate in Anchor-wide pastoral rhythms, leadership gatherings, and shared initiatives.
  • Align preaching, ministry planning, and congregational life with Anchor's broader strategy and seasonal focuses.
  • Foster a strong sense of unity and shared identity between your congregation and the wider Anchor Church community.

Who You Are

  • A spiritually mature, Christ-centered leader who walks closely with Jesus and leads from a place of humility and prayer.
  • A gifted and compelling communicator who teaches the Scriptures with clarity, conviction, and a deep love for both Jesus and the people you serve.
  • A grounded, relational leader—someone who listens well, builds trust, and journeys with people in both the highs and the heartaches.
  • A team builder who empowers and develops both staff and volunteers, cultivating a culture of grace, clarity, and collaboration.
  • Experienced in pastoral leadership—ideally in a multi-site or multi-congregation context—and comfortable leading in both vision and detail.

Qualifications

  • A vibrant, mature relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated by spiritual depth, humility, and personal integrity.
  • Significant pastoral or ministry leadership experience (multi-campus context preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect across diverse groups.
  • Visionary and strategic leadership abilities.
  • Passion for developing and discipling others.

Why Anchor?

We believe Jesus is not just the hope of the world—He is the hope for this city, this neighborhood, this person, right now. We’re learning to follow Jesus in the everyday. To live rooted and present. To believe that the gospel speaks to real people with real pain. And to join God’s renewing work in the places we live, work, and love.

We’re committed to:

  • Teaching and worship that centers on the story of Jesus and calls us into deep formation.
  • Vibrant, local expressions of the church across our city.
  • Healthy teams marked by clarity, collaboration, and grace.
  • Discipleship that’s not about perfection, but presence—meeting people where they are and walking with them toward wholeness in Christ.
