Director of Operations - Global Friends

GLOBAL FRIENDS DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Qualifications:

Spiritual Qualifications

  • Must be a Christfollower in confession and lifestyle.
  • Must strive to walk in full surrender to the Holy Spirit.
  • Must possess a clear sense that God is leading him/her into this particular ministry.
  • Must have a regular habit of devotional time with God.
  • Must long to participate in the mission of God to see the redemption of humanity.

Other Qualifications

  • Must possess a teachable spirit – willingness to be led, instructed, and corrected.
  • Must be an active part of a local church.
  • Must be willing to embrace the vision and pursuits of the Global Friends Leadership Team.
  • Must possess a stable, healthy, growing marriage and family life (if applicable).
  • Must be willing to work hard, be disciplined, and strive for excellence in serving the Lord.
  • Must be friendly, considerate, and able to carry a polite conversation.
  • Must be able and willing to hold matters in confidence.
  • Must have a desire to serve the staff with flexibility and openness – allowing for changes daily.

Overview: This person will contribute to planning and implementing the vision of Global Friends, providing structure and carrying out the practical aspects of day-to-day operations in the following areas:

  • Local international student and refugee outreach
  • Interns who work as college campus catalysts
  • Connection of returning students with believers in their home countries
  • Training and development of multisites
  • Discipleship of international believers

Personnel/Administration/Finances

  • Assist with Annual fundraising Gala.
  • Familiarity with financial reports.
  • Participate in hiring, regular reviews and care of staff and interns, including directing weekly staff meetings.
  • Weekly and periodic international student meetings and events.
  • Response to contacts from donors, volunteers and partner organizations.
  • Donor care

Refugee Ministry

  • Support Refugee Director by developing systems for refugee outreach.

Corporate and Organizational Responsibilities

  • Maintain ministry house/vehicles/equipment.
  • Maintain stock of multilanguage resources and Bibles.
  • Obtain certification as ISI (International Students Inc.) Ministry Representative.
  • Connections with ministry and community leaders (i.e. Omaha Christian leaders; other international student and refugee ministries; local Afghan leaders).

Development/Expansion/Donors

  • Cultivation and support of multisites.
  • Development of a plan for home group multiplication.
  • Contributions to content for prayers updates: Facebook, text, emails, and in person.
  • Mobilizing and equipping churches in Omaha and nationally for international student ministry.
  • Representing Global Friends to ministry partners and at events.
  • Supporting implementation of vision for future of Global Friends.

Other Matters of Consideration

  • This is a full-time position requiring 40-45 hours per week.
  • Compensation will be a combination of salary and fund-raised.
  • A regular schedule of working hours will be established after hiring.
  • Other areas of service and responsibility may be developed over time. This necessitates a teachable spirit and willingness to adjust to changes.

Accountability and Evaluation:

Accountability

  • The Director of Operations will be responsible to the Executive Director.
  • The Director of Operations must be willing to be held accountable in personal as well as employment matters and yield to the guidance of the Executive Director.

Evaluation

  • After the first 90 days of employment, an evaluation will be done by Executive Director and at least one other Board member.
  • After the first six months of employment, an evaluation will be done by Executive Director and at least one other Board member.
  • At the conclusion of the first year of employment and on a yearly basis thereafter, a regular performance evaluation will be done by the Executive Director and at least one other Board member which will be submitted to the Board of Directors.

Grievances

  • All concerns or grievances should be directed to the Executive Director.
  • If the grievance concerns the Executive Director, it should first be discussed with the Executive Director, then if unresolved it should be taken to the Board of Directors.
