Description:
Cordova Neighborhood Church is seeking a part-time lead pastor with the expectation
to grow into a full-time position. We desire a pastor whose character displays a deep
love for Jesus, grounding in the Word, commitment to prayer and boldness in his faith.
As a visionary leader, he will help clarify and communicate the church’s direction,
mobilizing the congregation to pursue its mission with purpose. A heart for discipleship
is essential—developing lay leaders, nurturing spiritual formation, and cultivating a
culture of transformation. This emotionally healthy pastor will possess relational warmth,
a teachable spirit, and strong people skills. He will also model passion to reach people
for Christ, both here in our community and around the world.
Cordova Neighborhood Church is a dedicated, small, vibrant church established 70
years ago. Our mission is to live and share the transformative love of Christ, commit
ourselves to spiritual growth, community engagement, and missions work. We believe in
creating a friendly and welcoming environment where our multicultural community can
come together to worship and grow in their faith.
We are seeking a Lead Pastor who embodies the following qualities:
I. Key Ministry Skills
1. Preaching and Church Service Leadership: A leader who is devoted to
prayerful sermon preparation, communicates biblical truth with clarity and
practical application, and demonstrates a deep understanding of Scripture and a
passion for God's Word.
2. Leader/Vision Caster: A visionary leader who can discern, clarify, and
communicate the vision and direction of the church, lead in establishing ministry
goals, and mobilize the congregation to live out the church’s mission.
3. Discipler: A leader who actively cultivates leadership potential in others,
supports discipleship and ministries, and champions a culture of prayer,
salvation, and spiritual growth.
4. Shepherd/Caregiver: A personable leader who is able to relate well to all age
groups across various cultures and provide timely care, prayer, and Biblical
counseling.
II. Personal and Relational Skills
1. Honesty, Integrity, Humility: An emotionally mature leader who serves as a role
model for our congregation.
2. Approachability: A communicator who welcomes open dialogue, input, and
feedback.
3. Initiative/Diligence: A leader who discerns the needs of the church and has the
commitment and perseverance to see it to completion.
4. Spiritual Disciplines: An individual who listens to the Holy Spirit, has a strong
prayer life, and tends to their own spiritual formation through spiritual disciplines.
