Title of Position: Director of Spiritual Formation Ministries (Part-Time)

Church Information: Daybreak Church is a healthy, growing, three-campus Alliance church in South Central, Pennsylvania.
Job Description: Daybreak is looking for a 28 hour/week Director of Spiritual Formation Ministries to serve on their Central Staff Team as a ministry department leader. They are seeking someone who is passionate about discipleship and seeing people deepen a life-changing relationship with Jesus through spiritual formation principles and practices.
Purpose Statement: To cultivate a culture of spiritual formation at Daybreak: guiding people through stages of growth (based on “Critical Journey”), equipping them with principles and practices for inner transformation, and encouraging outward living towards the call of Christ in their lives.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Provide leadership, vision, and equipping for Groups (Alpha, Emotionally Healthy Discipleship, Living Out Your Calling, Discovering God’s Word, Theodyssey), and Ministries (Spiritual Formation Leadership Team, Spiritual Formation Writing Team)
Shepherd and develop 10-15 volunteer leaders through regular coaching and support
Program Development & Implementation
Design and facilitate seasonal spiritual formation events (Blue Christmas, Good Friday Experience, Taste of Sabbath, etc.)
Serve as a resource for integrating spiritual formation practices into staff meetings, church-wide gatherings, and weekend services
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Partner with department leaders to embed spiritual formation principles into their department
Provide training and resources that support transformation-focused ministry
Strategic Development
Assess, refine, and expand spiritual formation offerings based on congregational needs, and fruitfulness within our discipleship model
Stay current with spiritual formation resources, and best practices
Work Schedule: This is a part-time role at 28 hours/week with seasonal evening and weekend requirements
Education: Preferred Bachelor’s Degree and formal Spiritual Formation Training (including certificate programs.)
Minimum Years of Experience: 2+ years in church or parachurch ministry leadership and/or counseling, spiritual direction, or pastoral care
Special Skills Desired:
Spiritual Formation Expertise: Deep understanding of classical and contemporary spiritual disciplines, contemplative practices, and discipleship principles of the critical journey model.
Facilitation & Teaching: Proven ability to lead groups, facilitate formational discussions, and create safe spaces for spiritual exploration and vulnerability
Emotional Intelligence: High relational awareness with ability to navigate diverse personalities, spiritual stages, and emotional health levels
Leadership Development: Experience coaching, equipping, and empowering volunteer team leaders and volunteer coach level leaders.
Curriculum Design: Ability to create, adapt, and curate spiritual formation resources and learning experiences
Interpersonal Neurobiology and Mental Health Awareness: Familiarity with how trauma, attachment, and brain science intersect with spiritual growth
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication for teaching, writing, and cross-departmental collaboration
Organizational Management: Ability to coordinate multiple teams, events, and initiatives simultaneously
Theological Grounding: Solid biblical and theological foundation that aligns with Alliance theology and distinctives.
Adaptability: Comfortable with structured programs and organic, Spirit-led ministry
Resource Familiarity: Training in Alpha, Emotionally Healthy Discipleship, Enneagram, and/or similar soul care frameworks
