Church Location Description: Known as “E-town" by locals, this community in Lancaster County features great neighborhoods and a walkable downtown with local shops and restaurants. Locals enjoy a small-town charm, easy access to rails to trails, fresh local produce from surrounding farms, and an easy commute to Hershey, Harrisburg, and Lancaster. The area surrounding the church is experiencing rapid residential development, creating new opportunities for evangelism and community engagement as families move in.

Job Description: The church is seeking a lead pastor who is a strong expository teacher of God's Word with a shepherd's heart. He should know his congregation and develop people as disciples who make disciples. He will need to create a clear system and structure for how people can get connected, be discipled, serve, be cared for, etc. The church is looking for a life-long learner who leads by example, a man of humility and consistency, faithful in prayer, and who leads his family with intentionality and is committed to strengthening marriages and families in the congregation. The church is currently led by a transitional pastor and a strong team of elders and lay leaders as it seeks its next lead pastor.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gives significant attention to preparation for sermons and other Biblical instruction.
  • Demonstrates good skills in communicating the Gospel and connecting it to every aspect of life through study and seeking God through prayer.
  • Preaches the Bible in its entirety, helping the congregation grow from the full counsel of the Word.
  • Mentors others in their commitment to follow Christ, with a focused attention to develop leaders and make disciples who will in turn develop others and make disciples.
  • Effectively organizes the church at a macro level in its day-to-day ministries and operations toward attaining the mission, vision, and values of the church.
  • Focuses on knowing the church and community intimately, building systems of care, and giving wise Biblical counsel for a variety of needs.
  • Seeks out involvement in the activities, issues, and needs of the surrounding community and leads the church to have Gospel influence in the community.
  • Develops a theology of mission in the church and advances the Kingdom of God by demonstrating and proclaiming the Gospel to their community, region, and world.

Compensation: Health Coverage, Full-time Salary, Housing Allowance

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Credential Level: Must be willing to begin the Alliance ordination process

Minimum Years of Experience: The ideal candidate has 10 years of experience as a staff pastor and proven experience making disciples.

Church Size: 185 Avg. Sunday Attendance

Church Setting: Suburban

Church History: The Alliance Church in Elizabethtown, planted in 1958, is congregation actively working through a season of transition that holds and articulates a robust biblical faith. The congregation demonstrates spiritual vitality through new conversions, baptisms, and committed lay leadership. The next pastor will have the opportunity to build upon existing ministries while helping shape the church's future direction through thoughtful, biblical disciplemaking.
