Kids Ministry Leader (Part-Time)

Position Title: Kids Ministry Leader

Reports To: Executive Director

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week; includes 9 hours of weekly programming

Mission / Role Summary

The Kids Ministry Leader provides spiritual leadership for the children of That Neighborhood

Church. This role focuses on teaching biblical truth, equipping volunteers, and creating a safe and

welcoming environment where children can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. The ideal

candidate is passionate about inner-city ministry and committed to building relationships that

point children and families toward hope in Christ.

Key Responsibilities

1. Discipleship

• Plan and lead weekly Bible time during After-School Programming (ASP)

• Coordinate lesson plans and activities

• Ensure a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environment

2. Curriculum & Teaching

• Select or develop Gospel-centered curriculum

• Teach lessons and equip volunteers to teach

• Ensure biblical accuracy and age-appropriate, culturally relevant engagement

• Integrate prayer, Scripture, and small groups into weekly programming

3. Volunteer Leadership

• Recruit, train, and support volunteers serving in ASP

• Provide clear expectations and ongoing encouragement

• Foster a “Living Sent” culture among volunteers

4. Spiritual Discipleship

• Build meaningful relationships with children attending programs

• Encourage spiritual conversations and prayer

• Follow up with children expressing spiritual interest or questions

5. Family Engagement

• Communicate with parents about programming and events

• Encourage families in supporting their children’s spiritual growth

• Follow up with new families attending the program

6. Community Engagement

• Maintain relationships with local schools and community partners

• Represent the ministry in the neighborhood

• Encourage participation in church events and programs

Qualifications

• Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with TNC’s statement of faith

• Experience working with children in ministry or educational settings

• Ability to communicate biblical truth in engaging ways for children

• Strong relational skills and ability to navigate challenges with students

• Ability to lead volunteers with encouragement and clarity

• Trauma-informed care training (or willingness to receive training) preferred
