After-School Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

Position Title: After-School Program Coordinator

Reports To: Executive Director

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week (primarily weekday afternoons);

includes 9 hours of weekly programming

Mission / Role Summary

The After-School Program Coordinator oversees the daily operations of That Neighborhood

Church’s After-School Program. This role creates a safe, structured, and relational environment

where children are supported academically, socially, and spiritually. The ideal candidate is

organized, relational, and passionate about serving children and families in an inner-city ministry

context.

Key Responsibilities

1. After-School Program Leadership

• Oversee daily after-school program operations

• Ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment

• Manage program schedule including homework time, activities, reading, math, and Bible

time

• Maintain attendance records and program organization

2. Student Relationships

• Build consistent, caring relationships with children

• Provide mentorship and encouragement

• Support students navigating difficult circumstances

• Help cultivate a culture of respect and belonging

3. Volunteer & Staff Coordination

• Coordinate volunteers serving in the program

• Provide clear direction for daily activities

• Ensure proper supervision and safety procedures

4. Family Communication

• Build relationships with parents and guardians

• Provide content for weekly communications to the Kids Ministry Leader

• Help families connect with church ministries when appropriate

Qualifications

• Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with TNC’s statement of faith

• Experience working with children or youth programs

• Strong relational skills and ability to work with children from diverse backgrounds

• Organized, dependable, and self-motivated

• Ability to create a structured and welcoming environment

• Trauma-informed care training (or willingness to receive training) preferred
