Our Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your faithfulness to our church. Thank You for those who have worshiped You in this place for decades, and for the young families and children You continue to bring through our doors. Continue to make us a church that loves Your Word, loves one another, and loves our community well. As You have been faithful through generations past, keep us faithful in the years ahead.

Thank You that our church is alive throughout the week. We ask Your blessing upon the boys becoming godly men through Battalion and Stockade; the girls growing in friendship and faith in Pioneer Girls; the children learning and serving through Lamplighters Drama Club; and the men and women who faithfully open their Bibles together: before dawn, around kitchen tables, and in classrooms. May every ministry continue to make disciples who love Christ more deeply.

Thank You for the faithful shepherd who served this church for more than four decades and thank You for the shepherd You have already chosen for this congregation. Prepare his heart even now and prepare ours as well. Teach us to wait with patience, humility, and faith until, in Your perfect timing, You bring us together.

Above all, may everything we do, whether on Sunday morning or throughout the week, point people to Jesus Christ. May our church never seek its own reputation, but only the glory of the One who bought us with His blood.

Our mission is to reveal God to the world by leading people to know and follow Jesus.

To help us do this, we are seeking a full-time lead pastor.

Qualifications: Our next pastor will…

1. Be a committed follower of Christ who has a personal and growing relationship with Jesus.
2. Be gracious, humble, emotionally mature, and self-aware.
3. Have a passion for reaching the people in our community with the Gospel.
4. Be able to minister broadly across generations, and to all people (from seekers to mature believers).
5. Have an engaged and collaborative leadership style marked by a servant’s heart.
6. Possess at least five years pastoral experience with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field preferred.
7. Be accredited (or able to be accredited) by the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Responsibilities: Our next pastor will…

1. Provide strong biblical preaching and teaching.
2. Instruct the congregation in the whole of the Bible, emphasizing essential doctrines and addressing secondary issues in a balanced and gracious manner.
3. Nurture a culture of prayer and dependence upon God
4. Work with the elder board to discern and implement God’s vision for our congregation.
5. Lead and equip the congregation to both be disciples and make disciples.
6. Lead and equip the congregation in outreach and evangelism.
7. Build bridges and partnerships with our local communities and other churches.
8. Foster unity within the body of Christ, approaching disagreement in a spirit of peacemaking guided by biblical principles.

Congregational Profile:

The Clinton Alliance Church, originally founded as the Christian Church of Clinton in 1863, continues to provide a vital Christian witness to the Town of Clinton and surrounding communities. Prominently located beside the Clinton town hall and library, the church meets in the original sanctuary built in 1865. Our current, expanded campus also includes an education building, a youth center, and a parsonage. We have an active Sunday School, several children and youth ministries, and a variety of small groups. An average of 110 adults and 25 children attend each Sunday morning. We are age-diverse, with a large contingent of retiree worshipers and an up-and-coming group of families with children. Our most recent pastor served for 43 years. Since his retirement on December 31, 2024, we have employed an interim pastor. The Clinton Alliance Church is an elder led congregation with the business concerns being overseen by an Executive Board. We are debt-free and our current annual budget is $250,000.

Community Profile:

The Town of Clinton, New York is a rural community of 4,000 people located in the Hudson River Valley, about 90 miles north of New York City. This region is rich in historic sites, and the town is renowned for its winding country roads, fertile farmland, charming hamlets, and scenic vistas. With limited business and industry within the town, many residents work in the larger, surrounding towns. Due to its proximity to NYC, the weekend population swells as many city residents have purchased second homes in the area, attracted to its small town feel and natural beauty. Families in the area make use of a variety of educational options, including public school districts, a robust homeschooling network, and a local private Christian school.

Compensation:

• Well-kept parsonage on the church campus, including all maintenance, heat and electric
• Family health benefits
• Expense account including compensation for mileage and study materials
• Half of SSA.
• Contribution to an IRA annually
• Salary commensurate with experience.
