Christ Community Church in Newton, New Jersey is seeking a visionary shepherd to lead our established congregation into a new season of spiritual growth and community impact. Qualifications
- Licensed and ordained with the C&MA, or eligible for sustaining ordination with completion within six months
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s a plus
- Minimum three years vocational church ministry experience
- Deep reverence to the calling on one's life to the office and ministry of a pastor
- Gift and passion for engaging those who do not yet know Jesus, personal involvement in outreach, evangelism, and discipleship
- Gift and passion for equipping others and mobilizing the congregation for ministry
- Passion and knowledge for deep theological and biblically sound doctrine with the ability to adapt as needed based on the maturity and/or needs of the audience
Key responsibilities
- In concert with the Governance Authority, evaluates and stewards the vision, mission, values, and overall direction of CCC
- Embodies and champions CCC’s vision both to the congregation and to the community while exemplifying spiritual depth, emotional intelligence, and relational engagement
- Leads the Governance Authority who together oversees all spiritual and lay/ secular aspects of the church, including legal, financial, property, and strategic matters
- Serves as the primary communicator of the church, preaching no fewer than 40 times annually, and providing overall leadership and oversight of the pulpit ministry and all teaching ministries as well as ensuring that they are in alignment with CCC’s vision
- Serves as Ex Officio in every ministry. This includes, but is not limited to outreach, evangelism, discipleship, and equipping for ministry
- Ensures a strategic plan, calendar, and goals are in place to fill CCC’s vision
- As the primary shepherd, ensures that the congregation is mobilized to care for one another
- Engages in ongoing personal and professional development
Accountability
- Accountable to the CCC Governance Authority and the District Superintendent of the Metro District of the C&MA
- The CCC Governance Authority will provide a performance evaluation at least annually. This documented evaluation will be based primarily on the role description and agreed upon goals.
Compensation
- Full time, salaried/ exempt position ranging between $65,000 and $70,000 annually
- Negotiate any need for bi-vocational arrangement that advances the vision/ mission of CCC and spending on familial needs
- Health care benefits to be navigated through the State of New Jersey
- As licensed clergy, may designate a portion of salary as housing allowance
- Paid vacation and sick days
- Retirement and disability insurance (negotiable)
- Other job-related expenses such as auto allowances, continuing education, etc.
