Executive Pastor

Cody (Wyoming) Alliance Church is seeking an Executive Pastor. This church of 350-400 is nestled near the Eastern Gate of Yellowstone National Park.

The Executive Pastor of Cody Alliance will serve as a strategic partner to the Lead Pastor, translating visionary ideas into actionable steps while overseeing the church's daily operations and activities.This role is designed for a leader who thrives in the #2 position, with complementary strengths that support and enhance the ministry's overall vision and mission.

The Executive Pastor will lead with wisdom, compassion, and discernment, ensuring that staff, systems, and processes work in harmony to fulfill the church's mission and vision.

Qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in leadership, preferably in a senior administrative or pastoral role.

  • Ability to lead with humility.

  • A background in support and recovery ministry is a plus.

  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create, implement, and refine systems and processes.

  • Demonstrated skill in leadership development and team building.

  • Emotional intelligence with the capacity to listen well and foster trust.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • A heart for developing people.

  • Ability to think both strategically and operationally, with a commitment to seeing the church grow and flourish.

  • A Bible and/or theological degree is preferred, and the ideal candidate needs to be licensable by the Christian and Missionary Alliance (Ordinations from other denominations may be transferable).

Responsibilities include:

  1. Strategic Partnership with Lead Pastor
    1. Work closely with the Lead Pastor to align church operations and activities with the church's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
    2. Provide practical steps and direction to move the church toward its strategic objectives.
    3. Serve in a supportive, complementary role, addressing any tension that exists around leadership roles or authority within the staff.
    4. Serve on the teaching team for Sunday Worship
  2. Oversee the disciple-making pathway and Small Group Ministry
  3. Systems and Solutions
    1. Develop, maintain, and improve church systems and processes to ensure smooth operations and the effective use of resources.
    2. Be an innate problem-solver, addressing challenges head-on with grace and building leadership team(s) toward practical, efficient solutions.
  4. Staff and Leadership Development
    1. Understands and communicates the church's larger vision while also managing the steps required for its implementation.
    2. Lead with a heart for people development, ensuring church systems are designed to nurture personal and spiritual growth.
    3. Identify strengths and weaknesses in the team and provide opportunities for staff to grow in their roles.
    4. Regularly assess the health and progress of staff, equipping them with the tools needed for effectiveness.
