Job Description: The Youth Director creates a vibrant, relational, 20-hour-a-week ministry that helps students know Jesus, grow as disciples, and live on mission—helping City Alliance Church join with Christ to transform Williamsport for the glory of God and the good of the city.

Key Responsibilities: (20 hours/week)

Weekly Ministry (Primary Focus)

  • Lead & coordinate weekly youth gathering that includes gospel-centered teaching, worship, and community-building activities.

    • Gospel-Centered Teaching

      • The gospel doesn’t just inform, it also transforms. Teaching that helps students know, understand, and obey God’s Word.

    • Worship

      • Include music and highlight a life flowing from the Holy Spirit.

    • Community Building Activities

      • Create space for students to grow as disciples through intentional relationships in small groups, informal mentoring, and regular serving in Williamsport.

  • Sunday Morning

    • The Youth Director is the first point of contact for families with teens on Sunday and is expected to be present at both services.

    • The Youth Director is also to facilitate students' serving on Sunday morning. When students serve, they take ownership of their faith, and the church becomes their church.

Volunteer Leadership

  • Recruit – Identify/approach interested individuals and process interest forms, working through the role-specific recruiting and selection process.

  • Retain – Regular communication (through email, text, huddles, and team meetings), maintain and communicate the schedule, foster community within, and provide spiritual care to the team members.

  • Reward – Appreciate and celebrate team members regularly.

  • Intentionally give away 1-2 tasks to other volunteers to grow other leaders, and take on 2 new tasks annually.

Big Events & Outreach (Strategic, Not Overloaded)

  • Plan and execute 2–3 major events annually that serve as discipleship accelerators and outreach opportunities, including:

    • Annual Retreat(s)

    • Conference or Missions Experience.

    • Outreach/community events that foster belonging and spiritual growth

  • Cultivate a culture of personal and corporate outreach among students.

Parent & Church Connection

  • Communicate consistently with parents.

  • Help integrate students into the life of the broader church through serving, worship, and missions participation.

Personal & Spiritual Qualifications

  • Has a personal, growing relationship with Jesus and a lifestyle that reflects the fruit of the Spirit.

  • Passionate about helping students know and follow Jesus.

  • Engaged in the life of City Alliance Church and a committed Partner.

  • Demonstrates humility, integrity, and healthy boundaries.

  • Faithful, teachable, and team-oriented.

Expectations

  • 20 hours per week (includes prep, gatherings, meetings, and relational ministry).

  • Lead and be present at majority of youth gatherings.

  • Attend and engage in Sunday morning worship.

  • Meet regularly with supervisor for alignment and coaching.

  • Pray faithfully for students and foster a culture of prayer in the ministry.

  • Intentionally designing environments around our Spiritual Formation Pathway.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings (or bi-weekly if more realistic for schedule).

  • Submit brief monthly ministry updates.

  • Pastoral tasks as assigned.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communicator, able to teach Scripture with clarity, depth, and relevance.

  • Organized and administratively capable (events, communication, budgeting).

  • Tech-literate; comfortable with social media and digital tools.

  • 1–2 years of ministry experience (paid or volunteer), preferably with youth.

  • Skilled in recruiting and equipping leaders.

  • Relationally aware and able to connect authentically with Gen Z students.

Reports To: Associate Pastor

Hours & Compensation: Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours per week. Compensation $15 an hour.
*City Alliance Church would like to make this a full-time role. We will evaluate after a set amount of time whether this can move into full-time or not.

Church History: City Alliance Church is almost 10 years old. The church was planted as a portable location. In 2015, the church merged with an established Baptist church, allowing City Alliance to have their own building. The building is 200 years old and a piece of the established history of Williamsport. The vision of City Alliance Church is to transform Williamsport with the gospel of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the good of the city.
