Church Planting Resident - Philadelphia

Title of Position: Church Planting Resident

Job Description: The Eastern PA District of the Alliance is looking for a multiplying leader who is ready to bring the Gospel of Jesus to new communities through church planting in Philadelphia and help our district establish a regional network in the city.

Compensation: Flexible, a portion of compensation must be raised by the resident


Overview:

The Church Planting Resident is expected to be a Gospel-centered and forward-thinking leader who has a clear and affirmed call to church planting in Philadelphia. The resident is expected to humbly seek development through healthy personal relationships and a lifestyle of disciple making. The resident is expected to be creative and collaborative in their learning process as they seek to carry out the call of God on their life to reach new people with the Gospel.

The resident will be trained and coached to become a church planter through a developmental residency. The resident will learn and grow in the areas of Gospel rootedness, disciple making, adaptive leadership, emotional health, prayer, preaching/teaching, and a personalized development plan. A specific plan and job description would be based on the resident’s current level of development.


Basic Requirements:

  • Clear articulation of personal faith in Jesus, demonstrated character qualities of biblical elder, and an affinity for the philosophy of ministry of the district (i.e. Gospel development)
  • Licensed, or willing to be licensed, as an official worker of the Alliance
  • Demonstrated experience of multiplication the local church

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with starting ministries in new contexts, communities, and cultures
  • Highly strategic, organized, and entrepreneurial with exceptional communication skills
  • Creativity and a willingness to try new approaches
  • Established skills in team implementation, decision-making, and relationship-building

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a personalized development plan based on the Eastern PA Multipliers Residency:
    • Complete a personal change project
    • Seek to strengthen marriage/family
    • Execute a missional living plan (BLESS)
    • Grow in relational disciple making
    • Participate, lead, and multiply ministry teams
    • Practice and develop preaching/teaching skills
    • Learn and provide administrative direction and assistance
    • Connect with community by serving
    • Engage in an Alliance Missions Partnership
    • Complete recommended readings and specialized training outline in plan
    • Be willing and flexible to join other team efforts

Team Dynamic:

  • Direct reports to Executive Church Planter/Pastor
  • Interacts with district Executive Director as a part of the Philadelphia Church Planting Initiative
