Job Description

That Neighborhood Church is an accredited church with the Christian & Missionary Alliance and is united in governance, fellowship, and service in order to promote unity of faith in the fullness of Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.

The mission of TNC is to create environments that connect people to Jesus: Restoring hope, freedom, and purpose. To this end, we intentionally seek to create environments to love God, love people and prove it. Our church is a community of believers who want to be sold out for the gospel of Christ, and chooses to live a sent life.

We are an inner city church who serve those in generational poverty. Our neighbors feel the oppression that poverty brings to our broken community. Here are some key ways our children need this redemptive work:

• 90% of our children experience some type of abuse; the primary form of abuse in our neighborhood is neglect.

• 87% of 3rd grade children are unable to read at grade level

• 1 in 5 children experience hunger daily

• 83% of our children grow up fatherless

Job Overview

The CMD will oversee the discipleship ministries from birth through elementary school. The Director will give direct oversight to the volunteers and implement the vision of TNC which is to create environments where kids learn to love Jesus. This position is part-time with opportunity to grow as our ministry and programming grows.

• Ability to engage in a team environment through communication and collaboration

• Seeks to grow their knowledge of the culture for the neighborhood we serve

Responsibilities

• Prepare curriculum & environments for Weekly Church Services for birth - elementary

• Teach and develop a teaching team for elementary aged children

• Model discipleship and encourage volunteer team to do the same,

• Provide insight, leadership, and ideas to the overall structure and implementation of summer programming. Sports Camps, Friday Nights, Student Launch, and Bless A Child. It will not be required of you to attend every program offering for kids during the summer, but we do want you to heavily influence implementing the vision.

• Provide leadership and direction to volunteers or lay leaders who serve in children’s ministries.

• Recruit and train leaders who want to serve in children’s ministries.

• Participate in training opportunities and continuing education.

• Attend weekly staff meetings and be part of the team that creates and implements the vision for TNC.

• Provide leadership for new programming specifically, the after school program.
