EAST CARBON COMMUNITY CHURCH

BI-VOCATIONAL SENIOR PASTOR

East Carbon Community Church (ECCC) is seeking a Senior Pastor that will help the church creatively reach out to their community and equip the members to make disciples. The successful candidate will be dedicated, community-minded, personable, empathic and forward-thinking leader. The position will be Bi-Vocational role to start with and a monthly stipend will be provided. A retired Pastor or International Worker looking for a part-time position would be an ideal candidate.

THE PEOPLE AND CULTURE

ECCC has 15 official members. Before COVID the church was averaging around 30 people for their Sunday worship service. Most of the church members are blue-collar workers. There are a few professionals and several retired persons as well. The church is welcoming of newcomers, accepting and has a casual family atmosphere.

THE HISTORY

ECCC was started in the 1940’s during an Alliance church planting movement in Utah. The current building was the sold to the church for $1. God provided it in a miraculous way. ECCC is one of only two evangelical churches in East Carbon.

THE COMMUNITY

East Carbon is located in the center of Utah. It is a rural community with a history of Coal Mining. The population within a five-mile radius of the church is 1,785. The aver- age household income is $38,000. The community is approximately 75% white and 25% Hispanic. East Carbon is located at the base of the Bookcliff Mountains and the view is beautiful. Outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, mountain biking, hiking and ATV riding are abundant. East Carbon has a grocery store, a gas station, two cafes and a medical clinic. It is only 25 miles from Price, UT, which has shopping and medical facilities. It is located 2.5 hours from Salt Lake City and 1.5 hours from Moab and Arches National Park. The housing cost is very low in comparison with other places in Utah.

THE FACILITY

The facility is debt free. It is two stories. On the main level there is a sanctuary that seats 120 people, an office, a small classroom bathroom and lobby. In the basement there is a fellowship hall that seats 60, a kitchen, male/female bathrooms, a storage room and three classrooms. It is located in a very visible location. The church recently put a new roof on the building.

THE MOVEMENT

ECCC is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Potential candidates must be in agreement with the Alliance Statement of Faith and be eligible to be accredited with the C&MA. Accreditation must be completed prior to placement in this role.
