Description:

Hawaii Kai Community Church is seeking a part-time lead pastor with the desire to grow into a full-time position. We desire a pastor whose character displays a deep love for Jesus, grounding in the Word, commitment to prayer and someone who is not only bold in his faith, but secure in his calling. This emotionally healthy pastor will possess relational warmth and strong people skills. He will also demonstrate a teachable spirit and strive to be a life-long learner. We are looking for a man who models passion to reach people for Christ both here and around the world and who is joyful, energetic and displays a good sense of humor while possessing humble assertiveness.

Hawaii Kai Community Church has been an established church for over 40 years and is centrally located in an upper-middle class neighborhood. We are a small church with an older congregation but we have a big heart for God and His people. We are committed to spreading God's love and teachings to our community and beyond, with the hope to draw in younger families with children. We believe in creating a friendly and welcoming environment where people can come together to worship, learn, and grow in their faith.

We are seeking a Pastor who embodies the following qualities:

I. Competency (Key Ministry Skills)

  1. Effective Preacher: An individual who can deliver powerful and inspiring sermons that connect with our congregation and help us apply biblical principles to our daily lives.
  2. Strategic Leader: A visionary leader who can guide our church towards growth, both spiritually and numerically, through strategic planning and implementation.
  3. Bible Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the Bible and the ability to interpret and teach its lessons effectively.
  4. Motivator/Visionary: The ability to inspire and motivate others to actively participate in church activities and initiatives, and to live out their faith with purpose and vision.
  5. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both in preaching and interpersonal interactions, are essential for this role.
  6. Time Management: Excellent time management skills to effectively plan and balance preaching, counseling, administrative responsibilities and organize outreach events.
  7. Discipler: Ability to train and mentor the next generation to leadership roles.

II. Chemistry (Church and Community)

  1. Friendly and Encouraging: An approachable and encouraging demeanor that fosters a sense of belonging and community among our members.
  2. Caring/Approachable: Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of the members. Intentional desire to train and mentor younger leaders decibel and mentor a younger generation to leadership
  3. Culturally Competent : Sensitive and adaptive to local culture in order to be salt and light in our neighborhood.
  4. Warm Personality: Able to relate well to all age groups across various cultures and generations.
  5. Honesty, Integrity, Humility: A leader who embodies these qualities and serves as a role model for our congregation.
  6. People Leader: The ability to lead and provide guidance and support when needed, and to identify, develop and empower others to effectively use their spiritual gifts.
  7. Strong Work Ethic: A strong commitment towards achieving the church's mission and vision.
  8. Displays Energy and Vision: A dynamic individual with a vision for the future of our church, backed by energy and enthusiasm.
