CrossPoint Alliance Church in Akron, Ohio is actively looking for a new senior pastor.

We are seeking a pastor with 5-15 years of preaching/teaching experience who will advance the mission and vision of CrossPoint Alliance Church, which is helping people to become all that God has called them to be. The Senior Pastor will provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to the members, worship, administration and outreach ministries, preaching, teaching, and serving as the chief administrator of the congregation to assist in fulfilling its mission and purpose as the body of Christ.

Qualifications

• The Pastor will be a licensed worker of the C&MA as approved by the Central District.


• The Pastor will demonstrate a genuine desire for spiritual growth, evidenced by a consistent biblical lifestyle, prayer life, and devotion to God.


• The Pastor will be a man who loves the Word of God, committed to studying and applying it in his life and effectively communicating its message to others.


• The Pastor will be a visionary leader who leads the Body of Christ towards spiritual growth, outreach, and evangelism.


• The Pastor will meet the scriptural qualifications for leadership as outlined in the Pastoral Epistles of Timothy and Titus.


• The Senior Pastor is required to operate/function/serve under/adhere to the by-laws of CrossPoint and the C&MA.


• The Pastor shall have a potential and desire to remain in a long-term ministry.

Primary responsibilities and expectations

The Senior Pastor will need to prioritize the following areas of ministry as circumstances arise.

Worship:
• The Pastor shall regularly preach and teach the Word of God to the congregation.


• The Pastor shall have oversight of all pulpit ministries, both in content and those who are given invitation for pulpit supply in his absence.


• The Pastor shall officiate at special services such as weddings, funerals, and baptisms. Communion will be offered to the congregation monthly.


• The Pastor shall work with the Worship Leader to develop, integrate and maintain a music program for all ages in the worship service.

Administration/Leadership:
• The Pastor, as the spiritual leader, must be able to cast vision, motivate people, and appropriately delegate responsibility.


• The Pastor shall be a member and chairman of the Board of Elders and meet regularly with the Board. The Board of Elders will work as a team in all matters affecting the church.


• The Pastor or his designee shall be a member and chairman of the Administrative Council and meet regularly with the Council.


• The Pastor shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and departments of the Church.


• The Pastor or his designee shall preside over all regular and special meetings of the church

.
• The Pastor shall provide leadership and discipleship to all staff including, but not limited to, any Assistant or Associate Pastor, Youth Director, Children’s Ministries Leader, Worship Leader, Women’s Ministries Coordinator, and Administrative help. He will conduct and document annual reviews for any paid staff.


• The Pastor is responsible for the oversight of all administration of the church. This includes office, staff, janitorial, grounds and buildings. This does not imply that the pastor will do these things, only that he will oversee and delegate them as appropriate.

Personal Evangelism and Outreach:
• The Pastor is expected to model a personal life of witness and outreach, seeking lost people for the Kingdom of God. He will be encouraged to develop and nurture friendships with lost people outside the context of church functions with the goal of winning them for Christ.


• The Pastor will lead the congregation to support and pray for missionaries and international workers.


• The Pastor shall pray regularly for the church body and the community and promote intercessory prayer within the body for these needs.


• The Pastor will oversee the assimilation of new members and visitors and work toward creating an inviting environment in the congregation. The Pastor, along with the Elder Board, will be responsible for the membership approval of individuals.


General Accountabilities:
• The Pastor shall lead and love the church in a consistent manner that reflects the leadership of Christ, setting a Christ-like example before the congregation, in his home, and in the community.


• The Pastor shall be actively involved in the visitation ministry of the church.


• The Pastor shall be accountable to the Elder Board.


• The Pastor, as the spiritual leader, will provide short-term counseling as needed to the congregation. He will be available and responsive to crisis situations. He will provide pastoral care through the most effective means possible.


• The Pastor, along with the Elder board, will have spiritual oversight of all ministries and programs within the Church.


• The Pastor will maintain regular office hours. He should be available for evening and weekend activities, as needed.


• The Pastor will be responsible to develop appropriate relationships in the Community at large to enhance his ability to reach the unchurched and/or unbelievers with the gospel.


• The Pastor shall commit himself to continuing education. At a minimum, he shall attend a continuing education or training seminar every other year.


• The Pastor and his wife shall be members of CrossPoint Alliance Church.


• The Pastor will oversee the production of the Annual Report, to be presented to the congregation each January
