Amherst Alliance Church Pastor / Director of Family Ministries

Amherst Alliance Church exists to equip followers of Jesus Christ to love God and reach people.

Job Overview: The Pastor/Director will collaborate closely with the Senior Pastor and Elders in advancing the mission of Amherst Alliance Church (AAC). He/she will be enthusiastic about working with children, youth, and their parents, creating a culture of discipleship and outreach. He/she will provide leadership, direction, and cohesion within the family ministries team in advancing the mission of AAC.

Responsibilities:

Children/Youth Oversight:

  • Create an atmosphere of authentic belonging, joy and serving one another and the community.
  • Prioritize discipleship and leadership development empowering others to share the responsibilities of children and youth ministries.
  • Recruit, lead, disciple, train and equip servant teams for the children & youth ministries.
  • Adhere to and conduct the AAC Safe Place Policy for Children and Youth Ministries.
  • Create and manage the Children and Youth ministry budgets.

Children Specifics:

  • Coordinate events throughout the calendar year that promote outreach in the community.
  • Schedule and plan servant team meetings.
  • Select, oversee and evaluate children’s curriculum.

Youth Specifics:

  • Coordinate and possibly lead weekly youth meetings during the school year.
  • Teach, equip, and model discipleship as a way of life.
  • Coordinate special events/extracurricular activities that promote outreach, serving others, and building relationships.

Family Engagement:

  • Regularly communicate with parents and families.
  • Empower parents with the tools they need for the spiritual discipleship of their children.
  • Be a source of wisdom and encouragement for families.
  • Intentionally create multi-generational events that encourage all ages to gather and serve together.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Discipleship Committee
  • May serve on the Ministry Board
  • Other responsibilities based on the need and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Preferred 3+ years in vocational ministry with children and/or youth. Part-time and full-time experience will be considered.
  • Agrees to a background check by our search team during the hiring process.
  • Agrees with the Statement of Faith of the Christian & Missionary Alliance (https://cmalliance.org/who-we-are/our-faith-and-mission/statement-of-faith/).
  • Is licensed/ordained or agrees to pursue licensing/ordination with the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

Abilities and Characteristics:

  • Outwardly model a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Passion to work with children, youth, and families.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Teaches God’s Word faithfully.
  • Shows ability to teach and facilitate group discussion.
  • Uses professionalism and discretion.
  • Maintains a high level of excellence and quality.
  • Values a “team approach” to ministry and is loyal and teachable.

Hours:

  • A schedule of 40-50 hours weekly is normal and reasonable for full-time pastoral staff.
  • One day off per week is expected and should be carefully guarded for the sake of personal and family health.
  • While needs and crises cannot be predictably scheduled, extended hours are occasionally required.
  • The flexible nature of ministry allows for schedule adjustments as the need dictates.

Compensation:

  • A full-time salary and benefits package will be provided.
  • Specifics will be negotiated and detailed in a written Ministry Agreement for the position.
