Job Overview:

The Lead Pastor will model the purpose of Bedford Community Church (BCC) to “see the Kingdom of God come in all its fullness in Northern Westchester, its surrounding regions, and beyond.” The Lead Pastor will be an articulate advocate and communicator for the vision, mission, and core values of BCC. This person will be the primary leader, teacher, and visionary and will have a broad responsibility for the spiritual welfare, growth and life of the church in all areas including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service. The Lead Pastor is to embody the essence of a shepherd and servant leader. The Lead Pastor will model what it is to experience and live life in the fullness of the Holy Spirit and will be able to clearly articulate the doctrinal distinctives of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), including the C&MA’s position on the ministry/filling/gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the C&MA’s understanding of healing for today. The Lead Pastor will be amenable to the District Superintendent of the Metro District of the C&MA and will work collaboratively with the official Board of Bedford Community Church.

  • This individual will serve as a compelling advocate and communicator for BCC's vision, mission, and core values while exemplifying emotional intelligence, spiritual depth, and relational engagement.
  • As the primary leader, teacher, and visionary, the Lead Pastor will oversee the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the church, including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service.
  • Embracing the roles of shepherd and servant leader, they will live out the fullness of life in the Holy Spirit and articulate the doctrinal distinctives of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA).
  • The ideal candidate will not only profess faith in the Lord Jesus but also demonstrate a growing, vibrant relationship with Him that influences both word and deed.
  • Continual spiritual and professional growth, including engagement with theological developments and training opportunities, is expected.
  • Additionally, adherence to the moral expectations of a pastor within the Metropolitan District of the C&MA is required, alongside evidence of a vital walk with Jesus Christ, characterized by faithfulness, passion, and a deep appreciation for God’s grace.
  • A gift and passion for preaching the eternal, inerrant, and unalterable Word of God, combined with a commitment to personal evangelism and discipleship, are essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both in large group settings and one-on-one interactions, are paramount, as is a willingness to receive input from others and lead one's family into a relationship with Christ.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide dynamic preaching while overseeing all pulpit ministries and leading the staff team and ministry leaders in alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Collaborate with the official Board of Bedford Community Church, providing primary oversight to the staff team, establishing measurable objectives, and conducting regular performance assessments.
  • Oversee pastoral care ministries, ensuring that every member of BCC has access to spiritual support and guidance.
  • Maintain strong communication skills, both written and oral, to maintain relationships within the congregation and broader community.
  • Adhere to a full-time schedule, including regular office hours and Sunday services, except when on scheduled vacation.

Requirements:

  • Full-time commitment, with an expected average of 50+ hours per week, including Sunday services.
  • Hold undergraduate and graduate degrees, with an M.Div. or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience leading or assistant leading in a growing church setting for 3-5 years is necessary.
  • Accreditation/licensing/ordination with the Christian and Missionary Alliance or the ability to meet these requirements.
  • Full agreement and alignment with the doctrinal statement and distinctives of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, as well as the mission, vision, and core values of BCC.
