Hood River Alliance Church (HRAC) is committed to fulfilling God’s purpose for us in Hood River, Oregon. We are seeking a full-time, salaried Children’s Pastor who is called and equipped to serve and disciple our children and families here at HRAC.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position with a competitive benefits package.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Character: Demonstrates personal character consistent with biblical leadership qualifications (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).

  • Calling: Called to pastoral ministry and strong desire to serve God as a Children’s Pastor at HRAC (Eph. 4:11-15).

  • Competency: Children’s Ministry experience preferred. Education and/or degrees in ministry a benefit, but not required. (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

  • Chemistry: A sense of ministry like-mindedness and fit with the HRAC church staff, leadership, and community (1 Cor. 12:12-27).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrates the ability to raise up, disciple, equip, and empower lay leaders as a means to expand ministry reach and impact.

  • Demonstrates the ability to build organizational leadership and development strategies and systems for volunteers and staff.

  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate all aspects of Children’s Ministry, and has a passion to envision what could be.

  • Demonstrates an understanding in and an ability to keep current in Children’s Ministry culture and innovative practices and trends to meet them.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communication with children and volunteers.

  • Demonstrates the ability to connect well with parents and execute a strategy to partner with them on their child’s faith journey.

  • Demonstrates a high proficiency in leading volunteers to create irresistible service programming experiences for children.

  • Demonstrates genuine love and solid rapport with children.

GENERAL

1. Hours of Work – Full-time position (40+ hours)

2. Compensation – $45,000 to $50,000 commensurate with education/experience

3. Contract Period – This is a permanent, full-time position

4. Report – To the Lead Pastor

5. Positions Supervised – Inters, volunteers, lay leaders

6. Required Commitments – Scheduled office hours, Sunday services, staff meetings and retreats

7. Ministry Responsibilities – Shepherd and lead the Children’s Ministry of HRAC, throughbuilding effective volunteer teams equipped and empowered in their giftings, so that the children of HRAC learn what it means to ‘be with Jesus,’ to ‘become like Jesus,’ and to do what Jesus did.’

8. General Responsibilities - Be a team player: help to plan and execute “all-Church” functions as needed. This might include, but not be limited to, church services, staff meetings and retreats, river baptism, events, etc.
